Going to a college town will help me stay focused on college...said no one ever. 19 and goals set, I moved to one of the most unique and beautiful college towns in California. Located halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo is home to California State University Polytech,  was named America's Happy City and excellent hiking for beautiful views of land and ocean scape. Then there's me, the overweight country girl trying to leave her bad rep behind her. SLO was a fresh start that i needed. I knew a few people but the most important was my best friend Kaitlin. I've know Kaitlin since the sixth grade and we remanded close friend since. Kaitlin had her own life dramas...her parents nasty divorce when she was young, her grandparents taking care of her and her mom, and her abrupt move to the central coast. She had been on her own since sixteen. She worked with what she had and made everything as much fun as possible. She was my closest friend.

I was Kaitlin's side kick all that summer. She took me where ever she could, showing me around town and meeting all her new friends. I tried so hard to just fit in but i was always the fat friend at parties. It was either I never talked to anyone or if someone would listen I would talk too much. And I learned that if I was drunk enough that I didn't care anymore about what they thought of me. When the frat guys wouldn't let me into the parties or when all of my friends would have someone to take off with. I knew I was fat and that it wasn't going to change. But Kaitlin was always there. She made sure that I was having a good time and that I was never left behind. I was her side kick.

Kaitlin lived in a house with three other girls. Alyssa, Kerri, and Charity. Alyssa was small, quite, and pretty. Her nickname from Kaitlin ended up being Little. Alyssa was always nice and but didn't talk to me that much. Kerri was taller, blonde and a bitch. Not in the normal way but just more towards any other girl. Charity ended up moving move shortly after I moved into town. Kaitlin, Alyssa, Kerri and I were the one's who hung out the most and with Alyssa always came Matt, her boyfriend for 6 years with his whole crew. But the more I hung out with them I more I felt like I wasn't fully in the circle. I wasn't anyone's number one. Kaitlin and Kerri were best friends and did everything together. Alyssa was with Matt and I was left out. That's when i decided to get a job.
